New Youth Director
Our Staff-Parish Relations Committee and Rev. Turner are delighted to announce the addition of our new Youth Director, Tara Howard. Tara comes from Kansas but has been living in the Columbus area with her husband and two young children for about five years now. The family has been attending Mount Zion over the summer ('09). She has been deeply involved with a church in Columbus for 4 years but now feels led to be in a church nearer to where she and her family live in Smiths Station.
Do you remember when Rev. Turner was in the hospital and missed a Sunday (May 19)? Well, that was Tara's first visit to Mount Zion. She was so impressed with the spirit of folks filling in and serving that she realized here might be a church in which she could really serve in a meaningful way. Indeed, she was a great help to the Joy Class and Golden Agers as she worked several hours in the kitchen with them preparing for our School Employees Prayer Lunch in early August.
Tara has had a passion for youth ministry since God used a youth minister to make a pivotal difference in her life when she was a teenager. Tara is also passionate about Christian music and sees it as an important aspect of youth ministry.
Tara is married to Eric, and they have two beautiful children, Elaina-5 and Gavin-3. Please join us in welcoming Tara and her family.
